This commitment to delighting visitors, as well as our model of sustainable tourism, has already been recognized through several awards. Since the sustainable tourism model was implemented in 2007, when Itaipu Parquetec took over the management of tourism at the plant, R$191 million has been raised (until 2023).
The resources obtained from tourist activity pay for the operation of the complex, guaranteeing direct and indirect employment for around 250 people. Part of this resource is allocated to the Iguaçu Fund, which promotes and publicizes tourism in the region, in order to keep Destination Iguaçu thriving. All proceeds are allocated to the Technological Fund, administered by Itaipu Parquetec, which maintains actions focused on science, technology, culture, education, entrepreneurship, tourism and social transformation.
