What is the Refuge tour like?
Organic Bela Vista?

A visit to the Bela Vista Biological Refuge allows you to explore the rich fauna and flora of the Atlantic Forest, while learning about the conservation efforts carried out by the Itaipu Dam.

The tour is divided into two parts:

In the first part, the journey is made in a special car for the tour and, after boarding at the Visitor Reception Center, the group heads towards the Bela Vista Biological Refuge.

Thus, they pass through the Control Barrier of the ITAIPU Binational Security Area and the
banks of the resting lake in Piracema Park.

Along the way, it is possible to observe areas of reforested forest, areas reserved for the Towers of
Transmission from ITAIPU, as well as through the funds of the ITAIPU C Neighborhood.

In the second part, the route is done on foot for a stretch of approximately 2km.

Here visitors participate in the planting of a native tree and visit the small port.
from the Refuge on the banks of the ITAIPU lake, and pass by the Zoo, which has more than 15 enclosures.

*Some of the animals may not be visible during visits to the enclosures due to the care
veterinarians, weather conditions, maintenance, etc.

Guidelines on the Itaipu Biological Refuge

To better serve, delight and make the visitor experience even richer, the tours
offered by Turismo Itaipu have some important guidelines.

Entrada:

It is mandatory to go to the ticket office 30 minutes in advance to register and take a photo of the visitor.

We are in a binational security area, so all visitors must pass through the security barrier with an x-ray machine and metal detector portals to check their belongings.

Residents of neighboring municipalities have free access to the Itaipu Biological Refuge tour.

Wednesday to Monday

Limited spaces and times, make your purchase online to guarantee your ticket.

People with special care needs must contact us before the visit through our means of communication (WhatsApp, Email or Telephone).

We accept the following payment methods on our website and local box office: credit cards, PIX and cash (Brazilian Real only).

This tour may undergo route changes, depending on the needs of the Plant.

Important informations

The tour vehicle may not have windows, so a raincoat is recommended on rainy days and a warm coat on cold days. Note: The type of vehicle used is subject to operational availability and seasonality, and may be an open trailer-style vehicle or a closed city bus.

The tour takes place in the middle of the forest, so it is recommended to use insect repellent, sunscreen and closed shoes.

As this is an environmental conservation unit, some sections of the trail are on terrain where conditions are not recommended for wheelchairs, strollers, etc.

The use of drones is prohibited

Eating is not allowed on the trail

Carrying cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, lighters and sharp objects is prohibited.

All Itaipu Tourism tours can be purchased at the ticket office on the day of your visit.
However, they are subject to availability, especially the Itaipu Biological Refuge, which has limited spaces.
Therefore, we recommend purchasing in advance through the website, especially during periods of high demand, such as holidays and the end of the year.

Half Price Policy:

The half-price ticket policy is a right of students at Brazilian institutions and
residents of neighboring municipalities.
For foreigners, half-price tickets are only valid for people with disabilities.

Itaipu Biological Refuge Ticket Refund

Full refunds are available in unintentional situations, such as bad weather conditions. For full refunds, requests must be made at least four hours before the tour. Date and time changes also require four hours' notice. Voluntary decisions by the visitor result in a No-Show fee.

No Show Fee

The fee applies when notice is given less than 4 hours before the tour or when there is no notice
of cancellation or change of visit.
The No Show fee varies depending on the type of tour, being waived for Itaipu Panorâmica and charged
entirely for Itaipu Especial, Itaipu Biological Refuge and Itaipu Iluminada

To take the Itaipu Biological Refuge tour, some documents are required
regardless of the type of ticket, which are:

Official photo ID

Brazilians: CPF and identity document or driver's license;

Foreigners: Passport, DNI or RNE.

For discounted admission for residents:

The following are accepted as proof of residence: water, electricity, gas, TV, internet, landline and cell phone bills; notarized rental declaration, Voter Registration Card registered in a municipality bordering Lake Itaipu, recent Income Tax declaration, pay stub issued by a public agency, payment slips for services provided with the address and name of the holder.

jaguar, harpy eagles, alligators, otters, agouti, tapirs, capybaras, collared peccaries, snakes, owls, red-faced deer, among other species.
