What is PTI - Itaipu Technological Park?

O Itaipu-Brazil Technological Park (PTI-BR) It was created in 2003, following the expansion of the mission of Itaipu Binacional, its sponsor.

Thus, since the 2000s, the hydroelectric plant's mission is to “generate quality electrical energy, with social and environmental responsibility, boosting sustainable economic, tourist and technological development in Brazil and Paraguay.”

Itaipu's commitment to boosting development was the great motivator of PTI-BR, as an instrument to contribute to the plant through initiatives aimed at socioeconomic development, especially in the region of Itaipu's influence.

Therefore, the objective of the PTI's existence is to promote sustainable, economic, social and cultural growth in the trinational region, developing education, science and technology – influencing the generation of work, employment and income.

Therefore, the PTI is a mechanism for innovation and technological transfer for competitiveness and regional development.

What is the difference between PTI and Itaipu Binacional?

The Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) and the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant are distinct entities, but have close relationships due to their location and the activities carried out in the region.

Itaipu Technological Park (PTI)

It was created in 2003 from the expansion of Itaipu Binacional's mission, being an initiative that developed around the plant, but is an independent entity

The PTI aims to promote scientific, technological and innovation development in the trinational region (Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina).

Its activities include research projects, business incubation, qualification and training programs, among others

Within the PTI there are 5 directorates, one of which is tourism, which is responsible for managing the Itaipu Tourist Complex (Turismo Itaipu)

Itaipu Binational

It is one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the world, located on the Paraná River, on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.
Opened in 1984, it is a partnership between the two countries mentioned and has a significant capacity for generating quality electrical energy.
Since 2000, its mission has been social and environmental responsibility, in order to boost sustainable economic, tourist and technological development in Brazil and Paraguay.

While Itaipu Binacional focuses on generating electrical energy, PTI acts as a center of excellence in research, innovation and technological development in the region surrounding the plant. Thus, both play important roles, but with different objectives and functions.

Santos Dumont Incubator: It is support for transforming ideas into real businesses.
